Back to Querying

First, I want to assure people my book will still be up for sale. This will not be changing as I attempt to get an agent again. The reality is my funds are low and I can’t invest my money wisely enough to launch a successful marketing campaign. So, for the second edition of my book, I’m going to ask an agency to do it. I know my story is fantastic and it can stand on its own… I just don’t possess the connections necessary to make it to the level of exposure I envision. Thank you for everyone whose shown me support so far and hoping it will grow in the coming years.

At the same time, I’m aiming to be more active throughout my multiple social media accounts. Hopefully, you’ll see more of the creative side of me instead of the author journey side. Though I do suggest if you want to see it more often to check out my Reddit comments. (https://www.reddit.com/user/KCJHutchins) On the note of other sites, I’ve decided to start streaming. I’m a casual video game player on the side so I’d thought I’d give it a try. Talk to you all soon!

BookTrib Book Review: Scars and Scales

Another review has come in for my first book. This time it’s from BookTrib. My favorite quote from it is actually the first line. “A sprawling epic of a battle for world power, Scars and Scales by KC J. Hutchins delivers enough strange creatures to fill a hundred fantasy novels.” Check out the whole review below if you’re interested, and thanks to BookTrib for reviewing my book.

Literary Titan Silver Book Award!!!!

This is amazing! If you can’t tell by the title I won an award for my book Scars and Scales. It was entered with many others after my review in the previous month and chosen for the month of December. I humbly thank Literary Titan for choosing my book as a winner. It means more than you’d think to be complimented in such a way. Giving me more of a drive to really see this through and make my dream a reality. You can check out some of the other winners in the link below.

An Irish Lament

It’s been a couple months since it happened so it’s time. My Pepere has passed away. The stubborn man fought death for many years as he defied the odds. He proved a strong will and love can keep a heart beating. For as long as I knew him he was a kind and jolly man… though you didn’t want to make him mad. Then he’d turn into Donald Duck for a small period of time. However, he always forgave those he loved. He didn’t say that phrase all to often, but you felt it through the warmth he emanated. Whether it was playing cards, singing along to Irish songs, listening to his stories, watching a movie together, going out to eat, or simply talking about nothing; one would feel a smile spread across their face. Heck if he had a beard I’m sure he could have convinced everyone he was Santa Claus. After all he did have a habit of grabbing random presents for people around him. I’ll miss having these moments with him, but I can always treasure the times I had with him. He was there for my wedding, my graduation, my first house, most of my performances, holidays, and many more events. Supporting me in every interest I had by asking about it and being there when he could physically manage it. And even though I’m sad to say goodbye, I know he’s no longer in pain. See you later Pep, and though you don’t like to say it back all the time… I love you.
