Known as the kindest of souls, a mage’s sworn duty is to protect others. Using staffs to channel magic into the physical plan; their spells range from healing, shields, and for their own defense, rays/beams. In times of war, mages are not shy to rush onto the field to save an ally. Likewise, they avoid conflict if the purpose is not just. For example, the mages pulled out of the fighting in the Wizard’s War due to the nature of the conflict. The sale purpose was to strengthen Mendaxum by killing creatures of their same nature, such as a pyromancer killing a fire creature such as the Matahari (a dragon that wields fire). As soon as the mages gained the courage to leave the conflict, the armies of Mendaxum were doomed. The conflict ended soon after and helped to appoint the mage as the mentor of a sorcerer that is only found once every thousand years, the Supreme. These have the ability to use every branch of magic and become the leader of their people, just like Delsey. Such kindness was wasted on this monster.

A Closer Look: Shamans
Sorcerers that use the elemental energies of the land through magical means. Using the totem found around their necks, they are able to channel their magic to make roots snake towards their opponents or rack to form hands to grasp the enemy. These totems, crafted in the form of some animal, are usually made of wood with a green crystal placed toward the center. There are a wide arrange of spells that can be learned by a shaman. Generally, one will lean towards one kind of element such as floral spells. However, the true masters can use multiple different kinds. The only element a shaman cannot use is fire, a specialty of the pyromancer. Along with these abilities, they are also able to communicate with animals. This can prove crucial in a war when messages need to be sent. Its enough to say that if you face a shaman, watch out for the environment around you; it might just keep you alive and ready for any attack.
A Closer Look: The Pellax Core
The infiltration unit of the Mendaxum army, they were always looked down on for their power. Unlike most sorcerers, they do not need any sort of item to channel their energy into the physical plane. Only skin to skin contact or the air hitting upon their own skin can activate their magic. Their abilities range from being able to suck energy and gain intelligence from skin to skin contact, creating illusions by being near their target, and obtaining monstrous strength that could break a full sized boulder. Because most of their spells rely on being close to their victim, many in the Mendaxum armies have given them the names of seducer and seductress. Constant ridicule falls on them for their ways, but in the end the other sorcerers would not want to lose this crucial part of their army. Without intelligence, there is no way to learn your enemy and win the battles ahead of you. As for their uniforms, it does not help towards the name calling. Most try to keep much of their skin exposed in order to increase the output of their magic. Others have a more teasing look with a corset and leather pants to distract their victim. If you are tempted to follow one to a room, caution is advised. They are either looking for information or even the very strength that lies beneath your skin.
A Closer Look: The Great Tower of Radix (Silvia’s Tower)
Built to spite her jealous husband, Madame Silvia Muffet created the building using her shaman magic. Twisting vines, roots, branches, and thorns weave together to form this grand tower to the very top room where a single window looks out on the land of Fabulum. To most beings, there is no door to enter this place. It only appears if one passes the test of the tower.
Two vines will spring forth from the tower; one having an allspice flower at the end of it that will wrap its petals around a person’s chest. The second has the jaws of a Venus fly trap, the tips of its teeth teasing the flesh all around one’s head. After a few minutes of suspense, the vines will retreat to the tower and form an archway; revealing a large round door made of Maple tree wood. That is only if one passes. On the other hand, if the person does not pass the fly trap gets brains for dinner. The only way to pass this test is to have enough compassion in your heart to care others more than yourself. Once one does get inside, they see the true wonder of this place.
Flowers light up the walls with a variety of vibrant colors that rival the splendor of a rainbow. Creatures of all shapes and sizes roam the tower, neither prey or predator seeking any hostility toward one another. If one makes their way down the steps and underground they can her the very tower breathe. The roots under the building are curled around a green glowing gem that keeps the structure standing. One must be careful approaching the sight for if they do not, giant moles will come up and smack intruders.
Going back upstairs, one would climb the spiraling staircase of Silvia’ tower. Each step is made of thick oak branches that run along the walls, From the ceiling trickles vines with radiant flowers that light the very tower. Finally, at the very top of the stairs it opens to a large circular room. A corner of the room contains two large tables side by side. One is obviously a work bench with tools scattered about and wood shavings covering the table top. The other seems strange to the most people. On it are several vials, tubes, and bottles that are kept neatly in rows against the back wall. Above them are shelves of powders, glowing liquids, and ingredients that are used for potions. In the center of this table is a small cauldron that is usually boiling. Like most of the tower, flowers of magnificent colors decorate the pointed ceiling. Branches stick out from the roof as most of the time Silvia’s owls perch upon them, except for Vitro, Silvia’s closest owl, who has his own perch next to her work bench. A single window lets the light in with a flat bay bottom and a coned shaped top. Across from this is a huge book case aligned with tomes of magic and guides to plants. A humble wood carved bed stands next to this with faded linens. The wooden plank floor is decorated in the center with a finishing of an owl in flight.
Exploring New Lands: Staude
The land is a vast forest with trunks much larger than a person. Two types of tree grow here; glowing black bark Weeping Willows with purple shining leaves and vines that shower down to the ground and radiant white barked Ash trees whose leaves outshine their counterparts. At one time, these grew on two separate sides of each other. When Elfriede and Gundisalv joined together their people with the help of Pelzgrauen, the forest became intermingled with a large center hybrid tree known as Verbin. Here the new king and queen built the royal palace. As for other landmarks, there are none left. The constant civil wars of the elves have destroyed any places sacred to both sides.
