Confusing Concepts: Dragon Bodies

Weird title right? One may be thinking, is he going to talk about puberty and the awkward stages of life? Thankfully I intend on nothing of the sort for not only will it be uncomfortable for you to read, but for me to write. So, what I do mean is about the different body types found in dragons. First is the most common known as the bipedal. These stand on two legs and have arms with claws at their finger tips. Wings decorate their back and a tail extends from their rear. A quadrupedal is much the same except having four legs and no arms. These kinds are massive and are rarely seen in Magitotum these days. At one time, this type of dragon were in charge of each of their individual species.

Much like the quadrupedal except in size is the drake. Drakes have no wings and possess much sharper claws than other breeds, most able to run up mountains. The spines on their back are usually larger than other breeds.  its cry are the most bestial of all breeds, scaring some opponents before it even begins to fight. The next kind, known as the wyvern, has wings instead of front appendages. It is common for this breed to have beaks instead of reptile-like jaws. Wyverns also have a unique cry much like the drake. If you hear a sound much like a bird combined with a reptile, look to the sky for an attack from this beast.

Finally, their are the wyrms. These are characterized by their snake-like bodies, allowing for better mobility. There are two variations of this breed; one with wings and the other with four short legs. The first is far more common than the latter and proves to be a challenge in combat. A single whip from its tail could kill a man from its blow. As one can see, there are varieties even within the diverse species of dragon. It just goes to show that one should not generalize creatures of the same species of being the exact same.

Confusing Concepts: Energy Formations

Whether it be Metaphysical, Elemental, or any of the other energies; there are different ways to use them. Animation, enforcement, construct, bombardment, modification, and army assembly are the established forms found in Magitotum. The animation form is defined by bringing the specific energy to life. An example of this would be creating creatures from fire. Each has its own mind and follows the command of the caster. They are around as long as the user can muster the energy for them. In a similar way, construct allows the user to mold their force into a non-animate object. Dark elves are an example of this by using their aura to make spears that they use for hunting. They are also known to use another form known as enforcement. This allows the user to coat their body into their energy and boost their own strength. Imagine an elf coming at you with a dark purple aura pulsating off their body; breaking through tree after tree to get his prey. Makes one quiver am I correct? Anyways, next is another overwhelming form, bombardment. As the name suggests, it is a form where the user launches large attacks of its energy, showing off its specific strength. Only the most powerful of users can do this trick for it requires a ton of one’s will to use. Such an example comes from the Omni Xerxes. who has been known to be able to summon a lake full of water to drown his enemies or summon a lightning storm that strikes down legions of foes. Modification takes a little more focus then the rest for it requires the user to bend their force around an object. Most common of weapons to do this with is a sword; which is seen through a number of examples such as the Matahari and the Knights of the Round Table. The final form was created by Xerxes’ younger brother Soliment. His form consisting on making himself a one man army by duplicating himself while still remaining a single consciousness. Meaning that he could just think where to attack and his army could swarm the area without a command. It is difficult to counter without knowing what the enemy is planning. Still there are even more ways one can use the energy around them, but for general purpose almost all fall underneath these forms. Which way would you fight if given the ability?

Confusing Concepts: The Reverse World

It is not the most clever of names being called so by the Doppelgangers who inhabit it. For centuries, most of Magitotum had no idea of its existence. It was only shortly after the emergence of the Betrachs did it truly become discovered. This dimension is found on the other side of mirrors and can only be accessed with assistance by either a Betrach or Doppelganger. The world itself is exactly like Magitotum except everything is crystalized and it contains no life other than the Doppelgangers. Thousands upon thousands of twinkling mirrors connect this dimension to the other, allowing someone to move about undetected. The rules of movement are opposite of the world parallel to it. Every action is opposite of a person movement. For example, if one tries to jump they will find themselves ducking and visa versa. Those in experienced in this plane will often find themselves dead before finding an exit. Furthermore, any being able to bend light are able to move at blinding speeds. It is bad enough that the Doppelgangers can move at such high speed, now imagine a dragon of light like the Dracux could do? There would be no escape from their wrath.

Confusing Concepts: Energies

There are six major energies that can be tapped into by the beings found in Magitotum. Werewolves and vampires can easily access the primal. This animalistic energy is made by every living thing that breathes. When it takes shape, you can see the pale light of the moon. It is thought that the moon can bring out the beast out of even the most civilized creature. Next would be the elemental, or Primus, these that occur in nature. This force flows through the world itself and through every living thing. Shamans use this energy mixed with their own magical network to cast spells. This brings me to a second one, magic. Much like our nervous system, those who can tap into magic have what we call a magical network. It serves as a way for their body to properly channel the power. This energy pools in three locations in a sorcerer’s body; the brain, chest, and the abdomen. Because of where these are found, the one using it has a limited amount they can perform at one time. Overtaxing themselves could lead to their very deaths. There are locations throughout Magitotum that naturally flows a wellspring of magic itself, like their home of Mendaxum which can expand their abilities in the immediate area. Metaphysical energy, or Eximus, is characterized as being beyond comprehension. It is not that it cannot be manipulated but that the energies are not fully understood. For example, over in the land of Orario are the Tempago who manipulate the very fabric of time; something they dedicate their lives to master. Not one of them have full control over the force; as is true for any of the metaphysical forces. The final two energies are less known by most of Magitotum. The first is called aura, the internal fighting spirit. Each person has a unique form of this energy that appears as a color and covers the outside of the body. The form it takes can show the abilities the individual may possess. Finally, the last one is called chakra. This form is wielded by very few and connects to the spiritual energy that flows from person to person. There are seven pools of this energy that are found within the body. If someone taps into all of them, it is rumored that they can avoid death until they are ready to accept it. Necromancers are one of the very few that can tap into this and usually end up as key keepers along with Reapers and the Phasm in the land of Peractium.
