Item Inquiry: Beleibrer

The great hammer owned by the smith Skapesmi goes by another name, known as the siege breaker. With a single swing from this weapon, fortress walls would crumble at its might. Skapesmi was the only one able to mold the unbreakable metal known as Uknustal, the sole material that his weapon was made of. Swing after swing the dwarf would charge into battle, making way for his allies to pour into the best fortified cities and defenses during the Conflict of Elemental and Metaphysical Disorder. The only description for this weapon was it looked like that of a hammer and scythe. For years only the great smith wielded this weapon and after his death that was the only record of its use. After the unfortunate passing of this great smith of which the kingdom was then named, the weapon was lost to the world of Magitotum. Not even the dwarfs knew where this weapon had gone. Perhaps it lies buried, waiting for the right creature to stumble upon it.

Item Inquiry: Medallion of Moon Claw

Long ago when the Matriarch was upon her death bead, she passed on her power to her children by way of four medallions. Each tribe formed around these objects and were gifted powers from the energy that radiated from it. However, whoever wielded the medallion was granted far greater abilities that almost rivaled that of the Matriarch herself. In particular, the medallion of Moon Claw grants the wearer healing from any injury instantly. Much like the properties of Silbermond, the injuries they do sustain glow silver and pale like the moon before it becomes healed. There is no need to focus on the area or do any preparations necessary unlike other medicines.  This becomes a problem for their enemies that cannot seem to stop an unrestrained assault.

In appearance, the crescent shape medallion has three slash marks behind the depiction of the moon. It is made of a white metal as a ribbon of evergreen is used to hang it around the wearers neck. When the medallion is active, it will glow a pale light color. Only a member of the Moon Claw tribe can use this item while all others will have only a fashionable accessory. Never be found wearing this precious artifact without the tribe’s permission or you might just end up losing your neck.

Item Inquiry: Silbermond

A silvery potion used by the Moon Claw tribe, this amazing medicine can heal almost any wound. The catch being that it has to be exposed to moonlight. Only then can it be used as it shines and seals the injury. Any blood loss will return to the patient in an instant. This powerful medicine has yet another catch, the ingredients are hard to come by. The additives are as follows; ground moonstone found in the underground kingdom of Skapejuvel, the pollen from tropical white morning-glory found in various lands in the region of Floresta, a needle from a cactus with the flower of a night-blooming cereus found in the land of Spicis, seeds from the Datura flower found in the land of Venenumia, and leaves from the Mentzelia Pumila flower found in the land of Kasi. To smooth out the mixture, one boils the ground materials together until it reaches that silvery color that is so familiar. Though it is not complete without a blast of lunar energy from the brewer. All of these span the world of Magitotum and takes at least a few months of travel to obtain them. A feat not easily done by any creature without finding danger.

About the Author

About the Author: Avoiding Spoilers

I know I know another About the Author post so soon but I had to put this up to explain myself. You might be asking yourself why I am avoiding telling you about other creatures and places I have mentioned such as the Jiqeeran. There is a simple reason for this; that being I wish not to spoil future books. As of now, all my posts retain to information found in the first book of my Scales series, Scars and Scales, while avoiding spoiling any plot lines. If I start talking about species and places we dive into in the other books; there is a distinct possibility of spoiling some surprises. I want to see/hear you enjoy the books that will be in your hands some day. So please be patient as I add some new content by adding a new category known as Item Inquiry. In this new division, we will be taking a look at specific tools that Xerxes and his company find/use on their journey.

Species Spotlight

Species Spotlight: Leprechaun

A trickster by nature, this creature relies on magic to defend itself though that may not be the right word. Leprechauns are usually total cowards, only getting physical during a bar brawl with their kin. As much as they avoid fighting, it does not mean they recoil from conflict. Most of these creatures gain their vast wealth by tricking other creatures out of their money. Their magic revolves around teleportation, shape shifting, and misdirection; allowing for the leprechaun to prevent their capture. If this unfortunate event occurs, they are either required to give up their pot of gold or grant one wish. This is considered the most embarrassing of circumstances that can happen to one of their own. When not swindling people from their money, they have a talented and honest gift of shoe making. To wear a shoe made by these creatures is to wear a soft blanket that hugs the soles. Don’t let the outside fool your for their craftsmanship shall last a lifetime and never be scuffed. To acquire such fine work, one must find their hidden village found on the island of Eire. It is said that no other creature other than the leprechaun has seen this village.

A leprechaun’s attire consists of a green overcoat with long coat tails with matching slacks while they only stand three feet tall. A white shirt is worn underneath with a similar green west with gold trimmings in the design of usually a shamrock. If one of them wants to show off their wealth, they will even wear a vest of complete gold. In appearance, they have red hair with some freckles that decorate their skin. A beard decorates the face of most males on this species. Upon their head can rest three different types of hats; a top hat, bowler hat, or paddy cap each with decorations of clovers. Speaking of which, when one of these creatures dies, the place at which their body lies becomes a bed of shamrocks. A peaceful end for this creature of mischief, but an appropriate one.
